you hum along to the sound of a car alarm
you count the bruises that tattoo your arm
they look the same as the stains on the mattress where you sleep
close your eyes and grind your teeth
your blonde hair all done up in knots
like when you were a kid before your love was lost
I spoke to your brother he says there's still love
but enough is enough
you do what you want and you forget the rest
you call that progress
remember those nights where we'd drive all night
you trace the outline of a heart into your thigh
we'd put our favorite album on but the whole disc skips
you hum along to the roar of the rumble strip
your blonde hair all done up in knots
like when you were a kid before your love was lost
I spoke to your mother one last time
a week before she died
you do what you want and you forget the rest
you call that progress
im done
A perfect punk album. What always amazes me is that it's littered with melodies and lyrics good enough on their own to build an entire song around, but Captain We're Sinking has so many great ideas, they don't need to stretch any single one beyond its welcome. This will have you coming back over and over again. John Martin
